Senior M&E PlannerLocation: Teesside (Office/Site Based)

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior M&E Planner to join a major energy and infrastructure project in Teesside. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a high-performing Project Controls team, supporting the successful delivery of complex engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining integrated project schedules while providing strategic planning support to project managers, engineers, and stakeholders. This role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, from FEED and detailed design through to EPC delivery, construction, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the M&E Planning team and provide key interfaces with wider business units and project controls functions.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop planning engineers across multi-discipline M&E scopes of work.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, analyse, and report on project schedules and planning performance.
  • Establish and manage resource-loaded, logic-linked baseline programmes in line with project and corporate requirements.
  • Develop robust Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned with project scope and execution strategies.
  • Capture project budgets, costs, and resources within project schedules to support expenditure forecasting.
  • Manage schedule baselines and ensure all changes are fully understood, documented, and communicated.
  • Lead Earned Value Management (EVM) activities and challenge schedule and cost variances.
  • Integrate vendor and subcontractor schedules into the master project programme.
  • Facilitate project risk workshops and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Support monthly reporting requirements through accurate schedule and performance data.
  • Attend and lead progress meetings with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor contractor performance and progress against contractual commitments.
  • Provide planning expertise throughout engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Significant experience in Project Controls and Planning within major engineering, infrastructure, industrial, energy, or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience across the full project lifecycle, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning.
  • Advanced Primavera P6 knowledge and experience.
  • Proven experience building and managing cost and resource-loaded schedules.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience using project controls, estimating, scheduling, programming, and risk management tools.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • The confidence to challenge programme assumptions and drive planning excellence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent experience in an engineering, construction, project controls, or cost-related discipline.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as APM.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience working on large-scale industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects.
