Senior M&E Project Planner – Multi-Site Portfolio

The Opportunity

Are you a hands-on, site-savvy M&E Planner who prefers being close to the action rather than buried behind a desk?

We are partnering with a premier, market-leading London building services (M&E) contractor renowned for delivering complex, high-profile schemes across commercial fit-out, data centres, healthcare, and high-end residential sectors. They are looking for a pragmatic, "boots-on-the-ground" Senior Planner to take ownership of planning and programming across a portfolio of 2 to 6 concurrent MEP projects in London and the South East.

This isn’t a theoretical, back-office role. They need an active, site-literate planner who can bridge the gap between high-level master scheduling and the fast-paced reality of live site delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage Multiple Programmes: Take overall planning ownership for 2 to 6 live M&E projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with client milestones and main contractor master schedules.

• Get Out on Site: Regularly walk active sites across London to assess true physical progress, test logic against on-site realities, and collaborate directly with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and key subcontractors.

• Build & Maintain Schedules: Develop robust pre-construction and construction programmes utilizing Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, or MS Project.

• Critical Path & Risk Management: Identify early warnings, critical paths, and bottlenecks proactively, formulating effective mitigation strategies and delay/EOT substantiations.

• Transparent Reporting: Implement clear earned value and productivity tracking metrics for internal directors and external clients.

• Pre-Construction Support: Assist the estimating and bid teams by building realistic tender programmes and logistics plans for upcoming opportunities.

What We Are Looking For

• Sector Experience: Proven background working as a Planner or Senior Planner specifically within a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor environment in the UK construction market (London experience is essential).

• Multi-Project Track Record: Demonstrated ability to manage programmes across multiple live sites concurrently (typically 2 to 6 projects).

• Pragmatic & Site-Savvy: A true "boots-on-the-ground" mindset—comfortable walking sites, challenging site teams constructively, and speaking the language of engineers.

• Technical Fluency: Strong working knowledge of M&E building services lifecycles, installation sequences, procurement loops, and commissioning phases.

• Software Literacy: Advanced proficiency in Asta Powerproject, Oracle Primavera P6, and/or MS Project.

• Commercial Acumen: Solid understanding of NEC/JCT forms of contract, change management, and delay events.
