About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to join a large-scale, nationally significant infrastructure and energy programme. This is a high-impact role within a complex, multi-billion-pound project environment, offering the opportunity to shape delivery performance and drive best-in-class project controls practices.

Working within a Programme Management Office (PMO) or delivery team, you will lead and coordinate integrated project controls across cost, schedule, risk, change, and reporting functions to enable successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead project controls activities for a defined scope or support wider programme delivery
Develop and manage integrated project controls reporting, including cost, schedule, risk, and performance metrics.

Deliver monthly performance reporting, including:
  • Schedule updates
  • Forecasting and estimate-to-complete
  • Variance analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensure alignment with programme governance, processes, and reporting standards
  • Work closely with supply chain partners to validate and assure project controls data
  • Facilitate and lead performance reviews with senior stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement and digital transformation of reporting (e.g. dashboards, automation)
  • Provide assurance, challenge outputs, and translate data into clear, actionable insights
Key Skills & Experience

Essential
  • Proven experience as a Project Controls Manager or Senior Project Controls Engineer
  • Track record on major infrastructure, construction, engineering, or energy projects
  • Knowledge across multiple project controls functions:
    • Cost control 
    • Planning & scheduling
    • Risk management
    • Change management
  • Expertise in earned value management (EVM)
  • Experience managing stakeholders at senior level
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment
  • Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, construction, finance, business, or related field
Desirable
  • Professional membership (APM, PMI, AACE or similar)
  • Experience with Power BI or advanced reporting tools
  • Knowledge of NEC or FIDIC contracts
  • Background in energy, nuclear, or highly regulated sectors
