Role Overview

A leading Tier 1 integrated design and build contractor is looking to strengthen its regional planning team with a Planner based out of Greater Manchester, offering hybrid working flexibility.

Reporting directly to the Planning Manager, you will be an integral member of the project planning team—driving project delivery against the baseline, interrogating variances, and mitigating delay. Working alongside Senior Planners, the role provides structured coaching and mentoring to accelerate your development into a senior planning specialist across major capital frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively develop and maintain robust, detailed project schedules across the complete project lifecycle.

  • Ensure schedules fully capture scope, logic, and resource requirements.

  • Facilitate collaborative planning sessions and embed Last Planner techniques across project delivery teams.

  • Proactively identify programme risks and opportunities, tracking critical path milestones and advising site teams on deviations.

  • Review, interrogate, and integrate supply chain and subcontractor programmes into the master schedule.

  • Maintain rigorous programme governance in line with standard procedures, including:

    • Implementing standardized WBS, activity codes, and project calendars

    • Baseline change control and impact assessments

    • Producing concise monthly programme narratives for client submission

    • Conducting periodic schedule quality, logic, and integrity health checks

Candidate Profile

  • Proven planning experience on civil engineering or MEICA schemes, ideally within the Water industry (AMP frameworks / treatment works).

  • Strong working proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project.

  • Ability to interrogate design drawings and specifications to build accurate delivery logic.

  • Commercial acumen with experience analyzing delay, contractual changes, and compensation events.

  • Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to translate complex schedule data for diverse stakeholders.

  • Resilient and comfortable managing conflicting priorities in deadline-driven environments.

  • A relevant civil engineering, construction management, or technical qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
