Senior Engineer - Design 

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and technically accomplished Senior Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to play a key role in delivering engineering excellence, driving innovation, and supporting the development of high-quality design solutions.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will help manage engineering design activities, provide expert technical guidance, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and technical governance across the business. You'll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to continuous improvement, and support the development of engineering best practice.

Key Responsibilities As a Senior Engineer, you will:
  • Support the Engineering Manager in planning, prioritising and managing engineering design activities and workloads.
  • Provide technical leadership and expert engineering advice across a range of engineering disciplines.
  • Review, verify and assure the quality of engineering designs produced by others.
  • Coordinate the integration of temporary works, permanent works and construction methodologies.
  • Identify, assess and communicate engineering and design risks through robust risk assessment processes.
  • Lead design assurance activities, promoting engineering best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with technical consultants, suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Champion the use and development of Building Information Modelling (BIM) throughout the design process.
  • Support technical governance and ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and industry regulations.
  • Carry out technical audits and ensure any identified actions are effectively closed out.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and contribute to the continuous development of engineering capability across the business.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry standards and engineering innovations.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of a Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Chartered or professionally qualified status (MICE, MIStructE or equivalent).
  • A valid CSCS card.
  • Extensive technical expertise in temporary works design, ground engineering, and current industry best practice.
  • Strong knowledge of structural, geotechnical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience using relevant engineering software packages and BIM.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering design assurance, technical governance and risk management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The confidence and credibility to provide expert technical advice and influence decision-making at senior levels.
