Commercial Lead – Infrastructure

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to support the delivery of a major electrical infrastructure programme. Working within a consultancy environment, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring robust contract administration, cost management, procurement and commercial governance while supporting successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Contract & Commercial Management

  • Lead contract administration activities and manage contractual correspondence.
  • Evaluate changes including variations, claims and Compensation Events.
  • Support dispute avoidance and resolution activities.
  • Ensure contractual governance and accurate project records are maintained.
Cost Management & Forecasting

  • Lead cost reporting, forecasting, liabilities and accruals.
  • Maintain CBS/WBS structures and support change management processes.
  • Support Earned Value Management (CPI/SPI) reporting and performance monitoring.
Estimating & Commercial Strategy

  • Prepare and review estimates and cost plans.
  • Measure and quantify scope from technical documentation.
  • Support value engineering and benchmark analysis activities.
Planning, Procurement & Risk

  • Advise on commercial implications of programme and mitigation activities.
  • Support procurement strategy, tender preparation, evaluation and contract award processes.
  • Lead commercial risk activities including workshops, risk assessments and risk register reviews.
Leadership

  • Provide mentoring and support to junior commercial team members.
  • Lead decision making and promote best practice across the project team.
  • Support professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong commercial management experience within electrical infrastructure, utilities, energy or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Experience across contract administration, cost management, procurement and risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
  • Experience within consultancy or client-side environments desirable.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Professional membership such as RICS, CICES, APM, or equivalent desirable.
